DURBAN CITY TOUR

This coastal city is South Africa’s major port. Durban is South Africa’s best known and most popular coastal resort with miles of safe, sandy beaches. Our tour takes you on a trip along the famous Golden Mile towards the harbor, taking in general monuments of historical significance. You will find that Durban really is a city where east meets West – a strong British colonial influence blends with Indian and Zulu cultures – and this is what makes Durban unique among South Africa’s major cities. A visit and Indian market where you can bargain to your heart’s content, will leave you with an indelible memory of this bustling city.

VALLEY OF A THOUSAND HILLS

Journey with us away from the coastline of Durban, into the lush countryside of KwaZulu-Natal, with its breathtaking scenery. It is here above the city that the Mngeni River winds it’s way through the spectacular, deeply eroded Valley of a Thousand Hills. Our destination is PheZulu, an African craft centre and traditional village perched on the edge of the valley. Here you will witness the traditional war of life and enjoy a demonstration of Zulu dancing. After lunch the tour moves on to Assegai Safari Park and you have the opportunity to visit the crocodile and snake museums.

THE NATAL BATTLEFIELDS

Duration: 2 Nights /3 days
Departure: from Durban , Monday to Friday at 06h00 ( minimum of 4 adults required)

Throughout the last seventy years of the nineteenth century and into the early years of the twentieth century. Natal was the battlefield for both the Anglo Boer War and the Anglo – Zulu war. Epic battles were fought and many lives lost amongst the rolling hills of the province. You tour will take you first to Colenso and Ladysmith, scene of the bloodiest baffles in the Anglo-Boer war. On day two you will journey onto Dundee and then to the site of the battle of Blood River where in 1838, the Zulu army was defeated by a band of Voortrekkers. Day three takes you to Ulundi, the Zulu Capital where on the banks of Umfolozi river, the final battle of the Zulu war was fought. On this tour, you will visit the battlefields and museums too numerous to mention where you will hear tales of courage and bravery and you will find out about the harshness of life in the 1800s. For lovers of history this is an experience not to be missed.

SHAKALAND

Duration: 8 hours
Departure: Daily at 08H00

The most famous of all leaders of the Zulu nation was Shaka, a warrior who turned the Zulus into a feared and all but invisible nation. It seems appropriate that this living cultural experience is named after this Zulu icon. Leaving Durban you travel along the Dolphin coast through the sugar plantations to Eshowe, the Zulu Capital. It is here that you will find Shakaland, the Original authentic Zulu experience. At Shakaland life carries on as it has for centuries and you can see traditional craft works, meet with Zulu people, drink traditional Zulu beer and eat a Zulu lunch. You will also see traditional Zulu dancing by the young Zulu men- an experience not to be missed
